1.The School of Library and Information Studies at Dalhousie University, Halifax, NS, has been renamed the School of Information Management. “The new name reflects and promotes the breadth of the education and research conducted by members of the school, and emphasizes that the school recruits for and educates graduates for a wide array of information management positions,”the university said in a statement .The school is one of seven accredited programs in Canada that grants LIS degrees.

2.Commented Stephen Abram, president of the Canadian Library Association, “The (new) name is wholly appropriate to reflect and represent the changes at the Dalhousie School and in our profession.”Fiona Black, director of the school, said, “Interdisciplinary connections in information management will enrich the MLIS program through such electives as public relations and advocacy, geographic information systems, public policy development, management informatics, and others.”All schools in the multidisciplinary Faculty of Management will move into a new building in the Fall of 2005.

3.Roman started at ALA in 1986 as executive director of the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) and the Association for Library Trustees and Advocates (ALTA). She began in her current position in 2000. Roman has her Ph.D. from the University of Chicago, and her master's in LIS information science from Rosary College (now Dominican University).
