Abstract
Tamron Co., Ltd. was founded in Urawa City, Saitama Prefecture in 1950 with the aim of manufacturing camera lens- es and other products. In 1957, it released the 135 mm F/4.5 as an interchangeable photographic lens. Thereafter, re- sponding to improvements in camera functionality, it developed distinctive lenses such as 90 mm macro lenses and small, high-magnification lenses. In 1998, it acquired Bronica Corporation, which manufactured and sold distinctive medium-format cameras, and in 2000 released the RF645. This article introduces the history of Tamron Co., Ltd. and Bronica Corporation.
