Abstract : The patient was a 36-year-old woman. Periapical radiograph showed a large periapical lesion of the maxillary right central incisor which was endodontically treated including the apex of the maxillary lateral incisor which was endodontically untreated. Periapical surgery was performed for the central incisor, and the curettage area of the lesion was limited around the periapical area. Abstract : We experienced a case of accidental ingestion of a root canal instrument. At first, surgical extraction was suggested by a medical doctor, however, the therapeutic strategy was changed upon presentation of a previously published paper. After ingesting fibrous foods, the patient excreted the instrument naturally on the seventh day. The maintenance of guidelines on accidental ingestion would enable treatment policies to be shared with other medical departments.
