We surveyed the noise level and frequency spectra in the rice-center. Noise levels in the rice-center are as high as 85 dBA (A weighed sound level in decibels) in general work areas and approach 98 dBA at the operating position of the rice huller. The main operator was exposed to the noises that ware 110 percent of OSHA maximum exposure limits.
A worker in the rice-center had many work shops and was exposed to the different levels of noises in a day. Therefore it is necessary to consider the worker's movements in the noises.
We proposed the permitted coefficent of the work for evaluating noises in working situations on the farm. The coefficent can be obtained by dividing the rates of the permitted time proposed by OSHA noise standard and the working time at local work shops.
