Aho Train, The Second Aho Train and The Third Aho Train are not travel descriptions but novels in which we find the influences of Botchan mechanism. He admired Soseki, the author of Botchan, so much as his teacher. Hyakken uses an ironical expression "Aho" in order to exaggerate his own personality. He described himself as "wagamama" (self-indulgence), "tonosama" (acting like a lord), "kanryo-teki" (bureaucratic), and finally "useless." By writing these novels, he attempted to resist the livery-like democracy after the war and disprove the situation that a man exists only to work as a tool for increasing products and profits.
