We got understanding that about 80% matter in the universe was unknown Matter from observed precise data for universe inrecent year. We know that unknown matter exist in our galaxy. We call this “Dark Matter” and expect to exist as WIMP (Weakly Interacting Massive Particle).
Now, many experiment groups are searching the WIMP by using the principle that detects the nuclear recoil from WIMP all over the world. And they try to confirm existence of WIMP from variation of signal has annual modulation by the earth's yearly round. However this way is difficult to get high reliability because variation is only few % and is needed long running time.
Here we consider directional WIMP search with Nuclear Emulsion. WIMP velocity is expected to have anisotropy at the earth. If we can detect the nuclear recoil track with nuclear emulsion, we can confirm existence of WIMP from daily modulation of direction anisotropy. We can expect high reliability search by this way.
We developed high resolution emulsion “NIT”, and checked it is able to detect the nuclear recoil track (-100nm) by using low velocity Kr ion, and confirmed the track by electron microscope. And we developed new way to recognize nuclear recoil track by optical microscope because WIMP search need big volume detector. Then we controlled sensitivity of NIT to reject electron background. By this way, rejection power of electron was estimated more than 10
